A new art space is taking shape in the former Sophienspital in Vienna’s 7th district. MEZEKƎRƎ deliberately anchors its artistic and curatorial reference points in the Global Majority and its diaspora, creating a translocal space with international connections—charting new paths conceptually, thematically, aesthetically, and in terms of socio-political engagement.

Spanning 300 m², the space located on the top floor of the Kenyon Pavilion will host not only exhibitions and performances, but also formats for exchange, residency programs, and long-term research projects. The program weaves together art, knowledge exchange, and critical discourse through exhibitions, readings, film screenings, and workshops. Plans also include international residencies and collaborations with initiatives such as Erasmus+ and Creative Europe.

The space will launch in 2025, with the official opening scheduled for May 2026.
